Buy My Lunch: Brand, Product & Platform
School lunch had a food problem.
But underneath it was a system problem.
The opportunity
Don't blame the people. Blame the system. Then build a better one.
Parents are juggling forms, cutoffs and morning chaos. Schools are stuck coordinating orders, payments and handoffs. Restaurants already making food kids actually want have no simple way into the lunchroom.
Meanwhile, nearly everything else in our lives has gotten easier. School lunch hasn't.
Chapter 01
Every good story needs one. Ours isn't the cafeteria worker. Or the school administrator. Or the parent who forgot to pack lunch again. It's school lunch as we knew it.
A system everybody knows could be better, but somehow never is. That gave Buy My Lunch an enemy people already understood.

Chapter 02
The challenge wasn't designing an app for parents. It was designing a system that worked for everyone lunch touches. Parents need choice without another thing to manage. Schools need control without becoming a lunch company. Restaurants need predictable orders without learning an entirely new business.

And kids? They just want something good for lunch. So we built around the whole ecosystem rather than any one user.
Chapter 03
The traditional model starts with a cafeteria and asks: what can we make? We flipped the question: what's already good around here? The pizza place down the street. The taco shop everybody knows. The sandwich place after soccer practice. Local legends. National favorites.

The cafeteria didn't need another menu.
It needed access to the neighborhood.
Chapter 04
Buy My Lunch app creation: Behind every lunch are a surprising number of moving parts. Parents. Students. Menus. Cutoffs. Payments. Restaurants. Prep counts. Labels. Deliveries. Rosters. Credits. Handoffs. That's the complicated part. Parents shouldn't have to see it.

Parents order. Restaurants cook. Schools hand off. Kids eat. Complex system. Simple experience.
Chapter 05
School technology has a look. We didn't want it. If Buy My Lunch was going to challenge the old school lunch system, it couldn't look like another company selling software to administrators. So we built the brand from the culture around lunch instead.

Less ed-tech.
More lunch culture.
Streetwear. Stickers. School hallways. Restaurant culture. Posters. Inside jokes. The slightly chaotic energy of kids being kids. The tone gave us permission to make fun of what everyone already knew wasn't working, without making the people working inside that system the joke.
Chapter 06
There wasn't a finished company waiting for an identity. We were building everything at once. The product. The operating model. The restaurant network. The school experience. The parent experience. The voice. The visual system. The launch.
Brand decisions weren't happening downstream from business decisions. They were helping shape them. AI became embedded throughout the workflow, helping a small team move across disciplines that traditionally require a much larger organization.
The result wasn't simply a new brand wrapped around an old lunch model. It was a new idea for how school lunch could work.
So, yeah
We didn't just redesign school lunch software. We questioned why school lunch still worked the way it did in the first place. Then we built the technology, operating system and brand to prove there was another way.
We didn't just build the brand. We helped build the company.

Buy My Lunch.School lunch, rebooted.
